I added another essay, On Intelligence, yesterday - listed in the left-side column on this page. I’ve been writing and editing the essay for the past week. I hope to be adding content to this site more than once a week – I have plenty of topic ideas – stored-up from years of providing therapy.
I also hope to add more resource links and advertisement of books and products that will be meaningful to you. Speaking of books, I’m reading the elephant in the playroom by Denise Brodey. The book is a compilation of stories from parents of children with disabilities. Ms. Brodey is a magazine editor with a diagnosed son, and she has done an excellent job of putting this book together.
This site is now 7-months-old and developmentally on target. For the first six months I built the content and learned how to manage the site. In the last month I’ve worked at advertising the site and trying to get a regular audience. There’s been a significant learning curve for me during the whole process.
Recently I am understanding the online community and culture better. The blogroll in the right-side column are blogs I've read and recommend. One of the most active online communities is people/families with autism. I’ve yet to find a core online community that is active on topics for children with cerebral palsy. I will continue to look for them, and hope to find ‘webrings’.
I have read amazing blogs from adults with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities. My greatest hope is to reach out to people who will find this site useful or the information helpful. If you would like my take on a particular topic, please leave a comment and let me know.
